The Fishermans Cottage

Charming, gleaming two story fisherman's cottage with 2 bedrooms, 2 baths, white-washed beamed ceiling, a sun-drenched patio off the kitchen, and, on the second floor, a classy living room with a fireplace and deck looking out over Cape Cod Bay.

I designed and built the fisherman's cottage 25 years ago, using antique fixtures and doors, to give the house warm and a sense of the architectural history of New England. In particular, the exposed beams and simple screened farmer's porch are typical of rural New England.

For privacy, one bedroom and bath are on the second floor, while the other bedroom and bath are on the first floor.

The kitchen is newly renovated and has a big round butcher block dining table with seating for 6 or so. You may also choose to eat outside on the patio using the wrought iron dining set, or on the lawn, overlooking all of Cape Cod Bay and the outermost ''arm'' of the Cape.

The house has a yard that extends right up the edge of the bluff, where you looking down to the sandy beach below and out across all of Cape Cod Bay and the entire ''arm'' of the Cape.

This house shares our acre of bluff with our other cottage - a low-slung antique Sears ''kit house,'' assembled here in 1902. The two story new home is much taller and from the living room deck one looks out over the roof of the old cottage to see Bay at sunset.

You are welcome to use the beach shed at the bottom of the beach stairs to store your beach chairs, umbrellas, floats and kids toys for the week -- no need to shlep the up and down the stairs each day.

With a little luck, you will spot whales out in the Bay from the living room or the yard and patio.

We love all dogs, but we can only welcome certain dogs to stay in the cottage. Please ask us about your canine family member. So sorry but we cannot welcome your feline family member.

Long weekend stays are possible from October through April. Please ask about nightly rate for short stays.

Month long stays are possible.
